Thorpe Marshes

Overview

Thorpe Marshes is a 25‑hectare urban nature reserve on the eastern edge of Norwich, bringing the wild character of the Norfolk Broads into the city. Its landscape blends open water, flower‑rich marshes and wildlife‑filled dykes, home to dragonflies, damselflies and a variety of waterbirds including great crested grebes, cormorants and tufted ducks. The reserve centres on St Andrew’s Broad, a former gravel pit now thriving with life. Easily accessible and open year‑round, Thorpe Marshes offers a peaceful escape where visitors can enjoy tranquil walks, diverse habitats and vibrant seasonal wildlife.
